Thoracic Surgery Residency
The Thoracic Surgery Residency Training Program has become recognized as one of the premiere programs in Canada and is inundated with applications from extremely high caliber individuals each year. Our focus currently is on the acceptance of one high caliber applicant each year into the two-year training program at a PGY-6 level. Entry is after a General Surgery residency, and applications are made through CaRMS. The program complies with the requirements of the Royal College of Canada (including CanMEDS). NOTE: as of July 2025, our program follows the Royal College CBD framework.
Note for Non-Canadian Applicants
Application to the Thoracic Surgery Residency Program is currently through CaRMS. For further information, graduates who are internationally sponsored wishing to train in Thoracic Surgery at Western University should first contact thoracic.education@lhsc.on.ca.
