Dr. Bill Wall, MD’70 – received a King Charles III Coronation Medal. He was nominated by Len Webber and awarded the medal June 20, 2025. Dr. Wall was recognized for his significant contributions to Canadian society, particularly his ground-breaking work in establishing Canada's first liver transplant program. His medal recognizes his career as a surgeon, professor of surgery, and leader in organ transplantation and patient care.  

Dr. Glenn Bauman, MD’90 – has been appointed Vice Dean, Clinical Academic Affairs at Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, Western University effective December 1, 2025 to November 30, 2030. Dr. Bauman is a Radiation Oncologist specializing in Genitourinary and Central Nervous System Malignancies. He is also a Distinguished University Professor and past Chair/Chief of the Department of Oncology at Schulich.

Luis Limo, MSc’24 - Congratulations to Luis Limo, a second-year PhD candidate in the Society-To-Cell Oral Health Research Lab under the supervision of Dr. Noha Gomaa, who received the Outstanding Abstract Award (Pre-Doctoral Category) in the Behavioural, Epidemiologic, and Health Services Research area at the 2025 International Association for Dental, Oral, and Craniofacial Research (IADR) General Session in Barcelona, Spain. Luis was selected to present his research at this prestigious international conference and is also the recipient of the 2025 Trainee Travel Award from the Children’s Health Research Institute (CHRI) and the 2025 One Health Graduate Scholarship, in support of his research on child oral and developmental health.

Laura MacGregor, MSc’95 – won the 2025 CBC Nonfiction Prize for her story The Invisible Woman. Her prize includes $6,000 from the Canada Council for the Arts, a two-week writing residency at Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity, publication on CBC Books, and an upcoming interview on Bookends with Mattea Roach.

Dr. Fareen Karachiwalla, MD’11 – appointed as the new medical officer of health for York Region. Dr. Karachiwalla is a public health and preventive medicine specialist, as well as family physician. She joined York Region in 2018 as an associate medical officer of health supporting several initiatives, including health professional engagement, child and family health and infectious diseases control. Her key interests are health equity, healthy public policy and community engagement. She holds a Doctor of Medicine from the Western University and completed her specialty training at the University of Toronto. She holds a master’s degree in public health from Johns Hopkins University with a focus on health systems and policy.
