Captain (Navy) Dr. Sean Batte, MSc’96, and Rebecca Haydon-Batte (President, Naval Association of Canada – London) were awarded King Charles III Coronation Medals. They have made ongoing contributions to the Royal Canadian Navy at the national and local levels.
Dr. Amit Garg, Residency’03, was awarded a King Charles III Coronation Medal. Dr. Amit Garg is recognized across Canada as a world-leading clinical and health services investigator in kidney and transplant medicine. He has also devoted himself to developing the talent of aspiring young physicians and researchers.
Dr. Grace Parraga, MSc’86, was awarded a King Charles III Coronation Medal by the Canadian Lung Association. Dr. Grace Parraga is committed to a better understanding of lung structure and function in terms of aging and lung disease. She has developed some of the first MRI-based measurements of asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), with the goal of using imaging to help guide personalized therapy and improve long-term outcomes.
Jane Philpott, MD’84, was awarded a King Charles III Coronation Medal presented by Doug Ford.
Dr. Steven Sangha, DDS’97, has been appointed to the Board of Directors at BetterLife Pharma Inc.
Dr. Christen Shoesmith, Residency’07, received a King Charles III Coronation Medal. Dr. Shoesmith was one of 39 individuals recognized by ALS Canada for making an impact within the ALS community through advocacy, research, fundraising, and clinical care.
Dr. Margaret Steele, MD’87, Residency’92, received the King Charles III Coronation Medal from Premier Rob Lantz of Prince Edward Island on March 10, 2025 for her involvement in the development of a medical school at the University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI).
Dr. Mike Strong, Residency’87, received a King Charles III Coronation Medal for his outstanding contributions toward a world free of ALS. ALS Canada nominated individuals who have made an impact within the ALS community through advocacy, research, fundraising, and clinical care.
