Dr. Sean McDonough, DDS’77 – Dr. McDonough was inducted into the Burlington Sports Hall of Fame in 2017 for his illustrious career in squash. Dr. McDonough’s love for the game began as a university student at Western. His talent was obvious to iconic Mustang coach Jack Fairs. As a Masters – World, US, and Canadian champion, multiple times over, Dr. McDonough refined his skills and athleticism in the competitive world of squash.
Dr. Wael Haddara, Residency’05 - Dr. Wael Haddara, Chair/Department Head of the Department of Medicine, has been appointed the Richard Ivey Chair of Medicine. Dr. Haddara has an evolving interest in character and leadership, drawing on the Ivey Business School Leader Character framework.
Dr. Anil Yadav, MD’96 - Union Health is excited to welcome Cardiologist Dr. Anil Yadav to Parke and Vermillion Counties. Dr. Yadav is committed to expanding high-quality access to comprehensive cardiac care in Parke and Vermillion Counties and is actively developing cardiology clinics to meet the growing needs of the region.
Sabrina Staples, BMSc’20 - Sabrina Staples, a PhD candidate in medical biophysics, is first author on a study published in PNAS that breaks new ground in our understanding of how blood vessels grow by splitting in two. The process, called intussusceptive angiogenesis (IA), is a lesser-known form of blood vessel growth – complementary to the classic “sprouting” angiogenesis many of us learn about in biology class. Instead of growing new vessels like branches from a tree, IA splits an existing vessel.
Dr. Robert Gros, MSc’94, PhD’00 - Robert Gros received a King Charles III Coronation Medal. He was nominated by the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
