Marcello A. Tonelli, MD’95, has been elected as a 2023 Fellow by the Royal Society of Canada.

Marcello Tonelli has contributed to the recognition of chronic kidney disease (CKD) as a major risk factor for adverse outcomes and has informed novel strategies for mitigating this risk. His highly cited research on prevention and control of kidney disease and its major risk factors has global impact through its direct influence on clinical practice, health services interventions, patient-centered practice guidelines, and public policy.

Matthew Galati, BMSc’11, MD’16, founded Brain Changes Initiative to provide advocacy, support and education for TBI survivors. Brain Changes Initiative supports groundbreaking endeavours and research in the field of Traumatic Brain Injury with a larger goal of changing the standard of care for Traumatic Brain Injury in Canada, and eventually world-wide.
