Dr. Amanda Black, MD’96 became the new president of the Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada (SOGC) for a 1-year term. One of her many goals is she intends to make contraception devices and methods available to all without the burden of cost.

Stefanie Attardi, PhD’15 was recently recognized by the International Association of Medical Science Educators (IAMSE) with the EARLY CAREER AWARD FOR EXCELLENCE IN TEACHING AND INNOVATION. She was formally recognized at IAMSE’s 2023 Annual Conference, which took place in Cancun, Mexico, June 9 - 13.

Theshani De Silva, MPH’19 and two medical students, Lotus Alphonsus and Penelope Neocleous, at Western's Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry have created the Newcomer Health Hub (NHH) to educate immigrants and healthcare providers on the unique health needs of diverse communities.

The online resource centre provides culturally-specific health information for newcomers and refugees to Canada.

The Newcomer Health Hub (NHH) educates community members and frontline healthcare workers on how to treat the complex health challenges newcomers may have, using evidence-based information tailored to their unique needs.
