Call for Applications: Director of the Office of Global Health

The Dean's Office, at the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry is seeking applications for the position of Director of Global Health Office to be effective July 1, 2013.

The Director of Global Health Office will be responsible for leading the undergraduate medical curricular global health learning opportunities in local and international sites. He/she would also be a source of expertise for global health learning opportunities in Dentistry and Post Graduate Education at the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry. He/she may advise or partake in creating curricular learning modalities in Global Health. He/she will work collaboratively with members of the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry faculty and the Global Health Office team. The incumbent will be expected to collaborate with colleagues and Global Health programs in Ontario through Council of Ontario Universities and at a national level through the AFMC and AAMC. The successful candidate will serve as a representative for the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry on any Committee or process that arises in Canadian, North American or international bodies that may serve to advance our model or improve our learning opportunities for the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry learners.

Candidates will have demonstrated leadership in Medical Education, a record of education scholarship and experience in Global Health. Sensitivity and diplomacy in recognizing and responding to issues relevant to undergraduate and postgraduate students is essential. Candidates should have a demonstrated ability to communicate, collaborate, negotiate and facilitate in complex environments.

The successful candidate will report to the Associate Dean Undergraduate Medical Education.

The Candidate will be a physician with certification by either CFPC or RCPSC (and/or a PhD, DDS) or equivalent with a strong track record; an international reputation in their domain; and demonstrates national and international leadership. Experience in Medical Education leadership is a requirement. Applicants must hold an academic appointment in the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry.

This role will require a commitment of 2.0 days per week for a 5 year renewable term.
