Dr. Mike Strong honoured by ALS alliance

Dr. Mike Strong, neurologist, Co-Chair of the Department of Clinical Neurological Sciences and Robarts Scientist, has recieved the 2008 Forbes Norris Award from the International Alliance of ALS/MND Associations.

The Forbes Norris award, named after a late neurologist, recognizes professionals who have made major contributions to patient care and research. Award recipients are thought by peers to have demonstrated "exceptional care and compassion in the study and management of ALS/MND."

The International Alliance of ALS/MND* provides a forum for support and the exchange of information between more than 50 national patient-support and advocacy groups from over 40 countries worldwide. The Forbes Norris Award is the only international award recognizing a clinician and research scientist.

*MND stands for Motor Neurone Disease

*ALS stands for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, a form of MND
