Dr. Margaret Steele Appointed Assistant Dean

Dr. Margaret Steele has been appointed as Assistant Dean, Strategic Initiatives for the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry effective July 1, 2008 - June 30, 2009.

Dr. Steele will be working with Dr. Nigel Paterson (Associate Dean, Academic Affairs) to co-chair the School's Tactical Planning Committee, and to coordinate the annual strategic planning conference in November 2008. She will lead Interprofessional Education within the School, liaising with the offices for Interprofessional Health Education and Research Council. She will also lead the implementation of the recommendations from the Global Health Task Force Report.

Dr. Steele graduated from Western in 1983 with a BSc degree in Microbiology and Immunology and her MD in 1987. She completed her residency in Psychiatry in 1992 and holds a Masters of Higher Education from the University of Toronto. In 2001 Dr. Steele became an Associate Professor with the Department of Psychiatry and has been active in Schulich committees, groups and senior administrative roles, including the Chair of the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Dr. Steele is also a member of the Child and Youth Advisory Committee for the National Mental Health Commission.
