Celebrating our achievements

This edition of The Pulse marks our first congratulatory article where we celebrate the monthly achievements of our faculty, staff, trainees and students. This month, we would like to congratulate:

Pathologists, Dr. Mike Shkrum and Dr. Michele Weir were honoured with Exceptional Service Awards at the Royal College's annual specialty committee chairs' workshop. The awards acknowledge, recognize and thank the specialty committee chairs for their outstanding contribution to the central work of the Royal College in strengthening specialty education. Matthew McCann, PhD Candidate, Physiology and Pharmacology, has received the Michael Smith Foreign Study Supplement from CIHR. The award is available to current graduate scholarship recipients to study abroad for a portion of their studies to carry out unique research experiences and gain a better insight into various training environments.

Stella Ng, former CERI Postdoc who is now a faculty member at the Centre for Faculty Development, St. Michael's Hospital; Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto has a chapter in the new book, "Understanding Medical Education: Evidence, Theory, & Practice (2nd ed)" edited by Tim Swanick. Stella is lead author with Lorelei Lingard and Tara J. Kennedy (Stan Cassidy Centre for Rehabilitation, Canada). The title of their chapter is "Qualitative research in medical education: Methodologies and methods".
