Celebrating our own

Thursday, October 25, 2012

Drs. Robert Bourne and Cecil Rorabeck are well known for their tremendous contributions to medicine, research and the community. And on October 4, more than 130 family, friends and colleagues gathered to celebrate their recent Order of Canada honours. Dr. Bourne was named a Member of the Order of Canada for his work in improving the quality of hip and knee replacement prosthetics for thousands of people across Canada. Dr. Rorabeck was appointed an Officer of the Order of Canada for his role in advancing the field of orthopaedic medicine, specifically in the area of joint replacement, and for his leadership within his professional community.

"Bob and Cec are true leaders. They have inspired a generation of physicians, provided care to hundreds of people around the world, made significant contributions to medical research and continue to give back to the London community. We were proud to join Mr. Mitch Baran in hosting this event, and take the time to recognize this great honour they have received," says Dean Strong.

The black-tie event hosted by the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry and Trudell Medical International featured formal tributes from Dr. Margaret Steele, Kevin Goldthorp, Mitch Baran, Dr. Jim Roth, Richard McCalden and Martha Powell. Guests enjoyed the chance to share personal congratulations to each of the honorees throughout the course of the event. View photos from the event.
