Program Information
Before students apply to the Biochemistry program, they should consider all the different degree options and modules we offer.
The Honours Specialization in Biochemistry and the Specialization in Biochemistry may only be completed within the BMSc Program. To be eligible for these modules, students must be admitted into the BMSc program during the adjudication period for intent to register. Please visit the BMSc website for details on pre-requisite courses, calculating admission average, and admissions average cut-offs.
If students wish to combine a Major in Biochemistry with another Major offered by one of the Basic Medical Science departments (e.g. Pathology, Physiology) or the Major in Interdisciplinary Studies (IMS), they must also be admitted into the BMSc program.
However, students entering Year 3 before September 2027 are permitted to combine a Major in Biochemistry with a Major chosen from another faculty to earn degrees such as BSc, BHSc, or BA degrees. For example, a student may earn a BSc degree by choosing a Major in Genetics with a Major in Biochemistry. A Major in Biochemistry can also be taken alone. Admission to the Major in Biochemistry will be restricted to students admitted to Year 3 of the Bachelor of Medical Sciences (Honours) degree with Double Majors for 2027-28 and onward.

Science Co-op Program
Students in Science or Medical Science are able to gain practical science-related experience while being employed in an industry setting. All undergraduate students registered in the 3rd or 4th year of a Science or BMSc Program are encouraged to apply if they meet eligibility requirements.
