Course Policies
Scholastic Discipline
Students are advised to carefully read the section on Scholastic Discipline in the Academic Calendar.
Statement on Academic Offenses
Scholastic offences are taken seriously, and students are directed to read the appropriate policy in the Academic Calendar, and specifically, the definition of what constitutes a Scholastic Offense.
University Policy for Plagiarism
Students must write their essays and assignments in their own words. Whenever students take an idea, or a passage from another author, they must acknowledge their debt both by using quotation marks where appropriate and by proper referencing such as footnotes or citations. Plagiarism is a major academic offence, see Scholastic Offence Policy in the Western Academic Calendar (link above).
Absence from Course Commitments
Western’s Academic Consideration policy provides students with consistent, fair, and academically appropriate consideration when they are unable to complete some component of a course due to extenuating circumstances.
