Announcement: Dr. Michelle Marlborough appointed Assistant Dean, Postgraduate Learner Experience

We are pleased to announce that Dr. Michelle Marlborough has been appointed to the position of Assistant Dean, Postgraduate Learner Experience, at the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, Western University effective November 1, 2020 to October 31, 2025.

Dr. Marlborough graduated from medical school at McMaster University in 2011. In 2017, She completed her residency in Psychiatry at the University of Toronto. She has pursued trauma-focused psychotherapy training in various areas including Prolonged Exposure therapy and Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR).

Dr. Marlborough is an active member on various professional associations including the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies, the Association for Academic Psychiatry and the EMDR International Association. Since 2017, she has held two administrative positions with the Operational Stress Injury (OSI) Clinic; she has served as Chair of the Roles and Accountabilities Committee, which develops structure to support role clarity within the OSI team, and she was a champion of the Zero Suicide Initiative which assists in implementing the Zero Suicide model and strategies.

At Western University, Dr. Marlborough serves as the PGY-1 Wellness Lead on the Psychiatry Resident Wellness Committee. This past spring, because of her interest in physician health and prior experiences, she was asked to represent the Department of Psychiatry as their Wellness Lead in the Schulich Wellbeing Program. Dr. Marlborough understands the importance of resident health and wellness. As the Assistant Dean, Postgraduate Learner Experience, she will focus on serving as a critical link between the residents and program administration, providing support and advocating on behalf of residents.

Dr. Marlborough has been the recipient of numerous awards including the Dr. Alan Neville Achievement Award in Medicine Selectives (2011), Sunnybrook Psychiatry Resident Grand Rounds Award (2013) and the Paul E. Garfinkel Caversham Booksellers Prize for Excellence in Resident Leadership (2014).
