I am an academic GP (family physician) and Clinical Lecturer at the Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences, University of Oxford. My research focuses on ways to optimise antibiotic prescribing and reduce the impact of antimicrobial resistance in primary care. This is naturally multimodal and includes developing decision-support tools; evaluating point-of-care tests; promoting cross-discipline efforts to improve prescribing in primary care; and making future antibiotic awareness campaigns more impactful both nationally and internationally. My interest in infections and antibiotic resistance stem from my early clinical experience in a subtropical region in South Africa near the Swaziland border where HIV, TB and malaria are highly prevalent.
