Dr. Mark Embrett is a Health System Impact Fellow with Nova Scotia Health and Dalhousie University (Faculty of Health), he completed his Masters in Applied Health Service Research at Dalhousie University and his PhD in Health Policy at McMaster University where he explored interdisciplinary health domains to define, assess, and resolve a spectrum of health problems using approaches that maximize research impact. Mark has over 10 years' experience conducting mixed-methods research that investigate the design, timing, impact and outcomes of health policy interventions. Primarily, Mark conducts qualitative research using a political economic perspective to understand health services & policy as well as health equity and the patient perspective. Mark also has experience in systematic reviews, meta-analysis and rapid reviews that help inform decision making for various organizations and jurisdictions. His work, broadly speaking, focuses on improving health system performance and citizen engagement using informed decision-making, policy and system analysis, and intersectoral collaboration. Mark lives in Queensland, Nova Scotia and enjoys the beach, camping, fishing and exploring the hidden treasure of Atlantic Canada.
