Parsyan Cancer Research Presented at Citywide Research Conferences

This past month, the Parsyan Cancer Research Lab team presented their most recent findings at important research conferences hosted by Western University Departments of Surgery and Oncology; the Dr. Robert Zhong Department of Surgery Research Day 2026 and the 22nd Oncology Research & Education Day 2026, respectively.

The Dr. Robert Zhong Research Day was held at the Darryl J. King Student Life Centre, King’s University College on June 17, 2026. MSc student Isabel Kannampuzha presented her most recent work in poster form entitled, "Molecular Targets of Response to Radiotherapy and PLK4 inhibition in Triple Negative Breast Cancer". There was lively discussion and interest in the project, including a visit by Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry Dean, Dr. John Yoo.

The next day, June 18, 2026, the Department of Oncology hosted their 22nd annual Oncology Research and Education Day at Western University's Ronald D. Schmeichel Building for Entrepreneuship and Innovation. Ms.Kannampuzha presented her poster at this research day as well, engaging with many students and faculty involved in oncology research. PhD candidate Anayra Goncalves Santiago was chosen to give her research findings in presentation format. The presentation was entitled, "NF1-Ras/Raf/MEK Signaling is Associated With Immune Cell Infiltration in Locally Advanced Triple-Negative Breast Cancer", and was honoured to win best student presentation of the conference.
