Dr. Parsyan Receives the 2025 Faculty Award of Academic Excellence
Dr. Parsyan was awarded the 2025 Department of Oncology Faculty Award of Academic Excellence, Division of Surgical Oncology, at this year's 21st Annual Oncology Research and Education Day held at the Best Western Plus Lamplighter Inn and Conference Centre in London, Ontario. Dr. Michael Ott, chair of the Department of Oncology, Western University, was on hand to present the award.
This award is given each year to 1 recipient per Division (Dept. of Oncology) in recognition of "...the excellence (it's) faculty provides to current/past learners and in cancer care to its patients". Every year, the Award of Excellence "honours the outstanding contributions of faculty in the Department of Oncology (DoO), to recognize and encourage the ongoing development of outstanding talent... This award is based on evidence of excellence in a variety of endeavours with emphasis on peer recognition and exceptional performance", including leadership in administration, a high level of skill and achievement in clinical care and medical education, a respected expert amongst peers and the London cancer community, excellence and leadership in teaching, and consistent scholarly output, including peer reveiwed journal publications and grants, which have made a significant contribution in their field of study.
Dr. Parsyan, who arrived at the conference immediately after clinic, was both surprised and humbled by the honour.
