Research

Over the past many years Dr. Lee has contributed to the dissemination of Neonatal/Perinatal knowledge in China.

Dr. Lee’s early research highlighted the maturation pattern of apneas in preterm newborn.

Currently, he is a collaborator in the Canadian Neonatal Network (CNN) database. Participation in the MRC-funded multicentre Canadian NICU studies has resulted in major findings that are likely to have lasting influence on the practice of neonatology in this country and far beyond.

Continuing collaboration in the CNN has led to a major clinical study which has demonstrated that evidence-based practice implementation and change (EPIC) can lead to quality improvement in neonatal outcomes. At present, Dr. Lee is introducing the second phase of EPIC, evidence-based practice for improving quality (EPIQ) to the staff at St. Joseph’s Health Care, London.

Results from this has provided the impetus for continuous quality improvement in the practice of Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine and has resulted in a major 5-year CIHR funded collaboration of 27 neonatal units across Canada in the Maternal-Infant Care Team Grant.
