Dr. Arlene MacDougall, MD, MSc, FRCPC

Dr. Arlene MacDougall is the Director of Global MINDS @ Western and an Assistant Professor (clinician-researcher) with the Departments of Psychiatry and Epidemiology & Biostatistics, Schulich Medicine & Dentistry. Her main areas of research have been recovery-oriented interventions for people with serious mental illness and global mental health.

Dr. MacDougall is leading the CREATE project in Kenya that involves the use of work integration social enterprises and an accompanying psychosocial rehabilitation toolkit to create meaningful employment, promote social inclusion, and support the overall functioning of people living with serious mental illness in low resource settings. She is also studying the use of mindfulness meditation and participatory video interventions to promote recovery among youth with early psychosis.

Dr. MacDougall is the Director of Research and Innovation of Mental Health Care Programs at St. Joseph’s Health Care London. She works as a psychiatrist in collaborative care models in London and surrounding area.
