After a modern nomadic childhood spent wandering Parisian museums, rowing the Mediterranean, and renovating crumbling Norman farms, I returned to my West Coast roots to study neuroscience at the University of Victoria on Vancouver Island—where I completed both a B.Sc. in Combined Biology and Psychology and a M.Sc. in Neuroscience. But after three blissful years, I knew it was time to honor my 10-year-old self’s dream of becoming a physician and was fortunate to get accepted at UBC Medical School. Third year sealed my fate: I fell in love with the teamwork environment found in the operating room and the breath of General Surgery. Now, I’m thrilled to continue my medical education at Western, and I look forward to learning from world class mentors and colleagues over the next five years of my residency in General Surgery.
