Claire Vannelli

Claire VannelliI was born and raised in London, Ontario before competitive rowing brought me out to Vancouver Island for high school and then Duke University for my undergraduate degree in Biomedical Engineering and English. After graduation, I returned to London to complete a Masters in Engineering Science in Medical Imaging at Western before working as an engineer for three years in the ORs at Toronto General. This role inspired a career change, and I returned to Western for medical school. It was here that I discovered my enthusiasm and love for general surgery, and I am beyond thrilled and humbled to be joining Western's General Surgery program. I am hoping to use my engineering background to continue to close the gap between technology and innovation and current clinical and surgical practice. Outside of medicine, I can be found swimming or running with friends, spending time with my cat, reading a book or telling a long-winded story to one of my siblings.
