Research Activities

Dr. Ball completed medical school, residency, and his Critical Care Medicine fellowship at Western University before pursuing his fellowship in Clinical Pharmacology and Toxicology at the University of Toronto and his MSc Epidemiology at the University of Ottawa. 

He is currently an Associate Professor in the Division of Critical Care Medicine, the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics and the Office of Academic Military Medicine at Western University, London, Canada.   

Dr. Ball works clinically as an intensivist in the Critical Care Trauma Center, as a trauma physician with the London Health Sciences Center Trauma Program and as a consultant toxicologist with the LHSC Toxicology Service. 

Administratively Dr. Ball serves as the Critical Care Medicine lead for Southwest Ontario and leads the Critical Care Medicine Covid response for Ontario West. 

Dr. Ball is a Major in the reserve force of the Canadian Armed Forces, 1 Canadian Field Hospital Detachment.   

Dr. Ball is serving Critical Care Western in his second term as Research Chair.  He is also the Critical Care Western Resident Research Director. 

Research interests: trauma, organ donation and end of life care.
