Critically Appraised Topic
The Critically Appraised Topic (CAT) Presentation
During the Geriatric Medicine Rotation all residents will be assigned a date to present a 15minute (10 min presentation/ 5 min Q&A) critically appraised topic at rounds. Residents are expected to attend all Geriatric Medicine Rounds scheduled 3 time per block on Tuesday afternoons between 3pm and 4pm at Parkwood Institute.
The presentation should not be stressful! Decide on a clinical question based on a patient interaction (ask preceptor for guidance). Use research literature (not review articles) to answer clinical question by implementing principles of critical appraisal to review the article. Make a one-page summary summary including:
- The question you are trying to answer
- Clinical scenario
- Clinical bottom line
- Study and results
- Critical appraisal
- Reference(s)
