Headache Fellowship

The Headache Neurology Training Fellowship is a specialized program designed to provide advanced training and expertise in the diagnosis and management of headache disorders. This fellowship offers a unique opportunity for neurologists to enhance their knowledge and skills in the field of headache medicine through comprehensive clinical experience, research opportunities, and mentorship from leading experts in the field.

Selection Process

The selection process typically includes the following steps:

Application: Candidates must submit a detailed application that includes their academic and clinical background, research experience, and a personal statement explaining their interest in headache neurology.

  • A current CV
  • Copy of medical degree with English translation if applicable
  • Copy of specialty certification with English translation if applicable
  • Letters of Recommendation: Candidates are required to provide letters of recommendation from faculty members or mentors who can attest to their clinical skills, research potential, and dedication to the field of headache neurology.

Interview: Shortlisted applicants will be invited for an interview, which may be conducted in person or via video conference. During the interview, candidates will have the opportunity to discuss their qualifications, career goals, and motivations for pursuing this fellowship.

Review Committee: A review committee consisting of experienced headache neurologists and program directors will carefully evaluate each application, interview performance, and letters of recommendation to make final selections.

Criteria and Requirements:

To be eligible for the Headache Neurology Training Fellowship, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Residency Completion: Applicants must have successfully completed an accredited neurology residency program before the start of the fellowship.
  • Licensure: Candidates must be eligible for medical licensure in the jurisdiction where the fellowship program is located.
  • Research Interest: A strong interest in headache disorders and a commitment to advancing the field through research is highly valued.
  • Communication Skills: Effective communication skills are essential, as fellows will be expected to interact with patients, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and contribute to educational activities.
  • Commitment: Fellows are expected to commit to the full duration of the program, typically one year, during which they will engage in clinical care, research, and educational activities related to headache neurology.
  • Continuing Education: Fellows should be willing to actively engage in ongoing learning and stay updated with the latest advancements in headache neurology.

Application Deadlines

  • Canadian Medical Graduates - as per Canadian Headache Society for Canadian Headache Society
  • International Medical Graduates – August 31st of the preceding year (for example: for July 2025 start, you must apply by August 31, 2024)
