I'll also be building some evidence via in-vitro and staining approaches.

Biography: Violet completed her BSc and MSc in Biochemistry & Biomedical Sciences at McMaster University. She is currently a PhD candidate studying the protein, ovo-like zinc finger 2 (OVOL2) in mouse placental development. OVOL2 regulates trophoblast differentiation, plays a key role in placental vascularization, and is necessary for embryonic viability. Her work focuses on studying the underlying mechanisms contributing to poor placental formation to elucidate the etiology of placental maldevelopment.

When I am not behind a microscope or microtome I like to spend my time outdoors with my wife and dog, or cuddling on the couch with my cats. Hopefully someday our graduate student intramural teams will walk away with a purple shirt, sadly it did not happen in my time.
