The complete list of awards and scholarships for medical students is available at www.cfpc.ca/awards.

Indigenous Medical Student Scholarship

Medical students must apply directly to the CFPC REF Honours and Awards Program. The deadline to apply is March 16, 2016.

One $10,000 scholarship is available. The scholarship recognizes a top Canadian First Nations, Métis, or Inuit medical student who has shown an interest in or commitment to a career in family medicine. Indigenous medical students in the second last year of study, graduating class of 2017, are eligible to apply.

Medical Student Leadership Awards

The deadline to submit your nomination is June 20, 2016.

These awards recognize the leadership abilities of outstanding medical students in the graduating class of 2016. One student from each of the 17 Canadian medical schools will be selected. A selection committee comprised of student and faculty representatives is asked to collaborate on the selection process.

A letter of support from a faculty member addressing the nominee’s skills as a leader must be included. These letters are an important component in the selection process and should include sufficient information to support the nominee’s demonstrated interest in family medicine and skills in areas of leadership, academic and/or research achievement, communication skills, publications, and non-medical/community interests. Where possible, you are encouraged to consider recognizing a student not previously nominated for a Medical Student Scholarship
