Attendance reminder to all Year 1 and Year 2 students in London and Windsor

Tuesday, September 24, 2013

We would like to remind you that we consider your attendance to be of primary importance. Your engaged presence communicates a respect for both your colleagues and your facilitators, and speaks to your professionalism as a student of Schulich Medicine & Dentistry.
You are expected to attend all of your scheduled sessions except for cases of illness or extraordinary circumstances, as outlined on our website, click here. It is important that you familiarize yourself with the circumstances under which we will excuse you from a mandatory session.
Your journey will begin here: click here. You will fill out the appropriate online form to submit your request. Please do not email or call Dr. Cooper, Dr. Rieder, Dr. Tithecott, your course chair, your instructor, a staff member, or anyone else to ask permission to be absent. The online form is where you must begin.
To clarify, if your leave is medical, compassionate, or religious, you will fill out the Year 1 & 2 Illness/Compassionate/Religious Absence Request Form, and if necessary, meet with a member of LEW.
For any other leave, you will fill out the Year 1 & 2 Academic/Non-Academic Absence Request Form. If your leave is academic (for example, you are presenting a paper at a conference or you have a professional exam), select "Academic Leave" where indicated. If it does not fit official academic criteria, select "Non-Academic Leave."
Please be aware that curriculum, especially when it involves any type of assessment, must be given priority over non-curriculum activities. We will consider each request in the context of your scheduled learning. If you are missing a small group session, you may not attend an alternate session to make up the material.
