Calling all meds! A new med research project has just come up: Validation of Ontario Cancer Registry Staging Data for Head and Neck Cancer.

The purpose of this project is to validate the Ontario Cancer Registry (OCR) staging data on head and neck cancer patients. This clinical project will involve a review of the clinical records for head and neck cancer patients from 2004 to 2010. The staging data from the clinical records will be compared to the Ontario Cancer Registry staging data for validation.

This project is open to all medical students. It will provide the student with knowledge and training in TNM staging, head and neck anatomy, database creation, and database validation. The student should accumulate enough data for at least one peer reviewed publication as first author.

Project duration: July 1 to August 31, 2013
There is a possibility of project continuation past August 31 on a part-time basis for a keen student.

Interested students should contact Dr. MacNeil (Head and Neck Oncology) by email at by June 28. The student will be provided a stipend of $2500
