The Radiation Oncology Program at the London Health Sciences Centre is a state-of-the-art academic and clinical department with numerous areas of clinical and research expertise, including pre-clinical, translational, and clinical imaging science. London is home to several other centres of excellence in imaging science, including Robarts Research Institute, the University of Western Ontario, St. Joseph's Health Centre, and The Centre for Imaging Technology Commercialization (CImTeC).
This internship will provide an opportunity for a first- or second-year medical student from a Canadian or international medical school to conduct research at the London Regional Cancer Program. Research projects will focus on Radiation Oncology and Imaging Science, under the direction of a Radiation Oncologist or Physicist. The student will also have clinical exposure, consisting of one day per week in radiation oncology clinics.
Projects will be geared to the academic level of the student, and will provide experience in research design, methods, and presentation of results. The research project will be designed to be feasible during a relative short time-frame, with the goal of eventual publication in abstract and/or manuscript form.
Duration: At least 8 weeks duration, starting in June 2013.
