Profile

Prior to starting medicine, Dr. dela Paz focused on personality psychology in her undergraduate degree at the University of Toronto, and this paved the way for her to eventually pursue psychiatry. She also spent 2 years as an English teacher in Japan which helped to spark her interest in youth mental health as well as cultural aspects of health. She went on to complete medical school at Ross University School of Medicine in the Caribbean, which helped her develop a deeper understanding and appreciation for global health and health equity. All of these experiences prepared her for training in General Psychiatry at Western, followed by subspecialty training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, also at Western.
Dr. dela Paz’s main clinical interests are transition age youth mental health and youth addictions. She also has an avid interest in psychotherapy across multiple modalities, including CBT, DBT, IPT, psychodynamic psychotherapy, and addictions psychotherapies, which she incorporates into her clinical practice. She is also committed to education, including teaching residents and medical students, as well curriculum development. Finally, she is dedicated to student and resident mentorship and wellness.
