Dr. Paul Atkison
Dr. Atkison joined Western University in 1984. He completed his B.Sc and M.Sc at the University of Waterloo and his Ph.D and M.D. at the University of Calgary. In 1984, Dr. Atkison joined the University of Western Ontario for his Paediatric Residency training. Upon completing his residency he continued to stay on at Western for Fellowship training in Diabetes and Transplant Immunology at The Robarts Research Institute and University Hospital.
Dr. Atkison is currently at the career rank of Associate Professor. He was Senior Medical Director, Women and Children’s Services for London Health Sciences Centre from 2007-2016 and prior to that was Deputy Chief of Paediatrics from January 2003. He has been Director of Paediatric Liver Transplantation since September 1992. His current clinical responsibilities include the Paediatric Liver & Bowel Transplant Program, Paediatric dysfunctional bowel patients, Acquired Brain Injury inpatients, and Complex Care inpatients and the inpatient Clinical Teaching Unit.
Dr. Atkison’s administrative responsibilities included Women and Children’s leadership and Senior Hospital leadership committees. He also sat on the provincial Child and Youth Advisory Committee to the Provincial Council for Maternal Child Health from 2003-2016 and was on the Board of the Canadian Association of Paediatric Health Centres.
