Library Facilities

Both University Hospital and Victoria Hospital have well-established libraries that trainees have access to 24-hours a day. In addition to this, University Hospital has a Nephrology Library with an extensive collection of nephrology journals and textbooks. Western University Medical Library, which also has an excellent collection of medical journals, is walking distance from University Hospital. At the beginning of their Nephrology residency, each trainee is provided with his or her own personal copy of the following textbooks:

  1. Primer on Kidney Diseases – 4th edition
  2. Renal Physiology – Koeppen and Stanton
  3. Handbook of Kidney Transplantation – 4th edition
  4. Handbook of Dialysis – 3rd edition
  5. Burton Rose’s Clinical Physiology of Acid-Base Disorders

The residents are all also members of the American Society of Nephrology and this gives them access to NephSAP assessment programs and the Journal of the American Society of Nephrology. As members of the Canadian Society of Nephrology, they also have access to the Kidney International journal. An office is provided for our Trainees at both Victoria Hospital and University Hospital, with computers and printers. Internet access is available to most nephrology journals. Subscription to the “Up-to-Date” program is also available at the hospital and can be remotely accessed at home as well.
