Dr. Daniele Wiseman

Dr. Daniele Wiseman, MD, FRCPC is a proud Cape Bretoner. She was the first student from Glace Bay to partake in the International Baccalaureate program at Sydney Academy where she graduated with high honours in 1991.  

She completed her Undergraduate Degree in Science with a major in Biology at the University College of Cape Breton in 1995. There she was honoured with the Governor General Medal for the highest combined four year average. She received several scholarships and NSERC grants, and presented original research at Atlantic Undergraduate Biology Meetings.

She competed Undergraduate Medical training at Memorial University in 1999, placing in the top 2% of her class. She won several awards for exceptional academic achievement.

She pursued her Radiology Residency at Memorial where she achieved 100 percentile on the American College of Radiology in training exam in 2004.  She presented scientific research at Newfoundland and Labrador Radiology and Society of Interventional Radiology meetings.

She completed her Interventional Radiology Fellowship at the University Health Network in Toronto in 2005. She was the only IR fellow selected to present her research at SIR in 2005.

She became an Assistant Professor at Western after accepting an Interventional Radiology position at Victoria hospital in 2005; and subsequently promoted to Associate Professor in 2013.

Her leadership roles in radiology include Radiation Safety Officer, Executive Member of Forrest City Imaging Associates, Interventional Radiology Resident Rotation Supervisor, Board Member Interventional Radiology Specialty Committee, and Vice Chair of the Interventional Radiology Specialty Exam Board at the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.  She was given a founders designation at the Royal College for her efforts in creating the IR specialty.

She enthusiastically partakes in Neuroendocrine Multidisciplinary Tumour Boards, Genito-Urinary Telemedicine Rounds, Trauma and General Surgery Rounds, Vascular Surgery and combined Urology-Radiology Resident Rounds in addition to Interventional Radiology and Radiology Grand Rounds. She’s been an invited speaker at Thoracic Surgery and ENT Rounds.

Her research has been presented, awarded, cited and published in numerous local, national and international radiology and surgical venues and journals.  These include original research on gender disparity issues in radiology, quality improvement initiatives in abdominal imaging, radiation safety and resident roles in IR, improving medical student exposure to radiology, as well as countless interventional radiology-themed topics and case reports.

Dr. Wiseman is passionate about teaching and mentoring younger radiology colleagues, fellows, residents and medical students.  Her clinical Interests include abdominal imaging in addition to trauma and general surgery interventions.
