The Office of Global Health (OGH) is seeking a student to assist with its curriculum program and improve pre-departure training. The Global Health Curriculum Studentship will enhance the ongoing activities of the OGH and the School’s social accountability mandate.
Duration: 8 weeks, full-time through July and August, 2014
Faculty Supervisors: Javeed Sukhera, Melanie Katsivo and Leah Mawhinney will assign and supervise the student in undertaking the tasks below.
-facilitating an innovative public health experience for family medicine clerks in collaboration with the Middlesex-London Health Unit.
-contacting community partners and arranging logistics for student placement
-developing handouts for clerks and compiling reading list
-investigating the possibility of creating online modules for pre-departure training.
-assisting with the organization of a health equity themed panel discussion in the Health Systems Course (in collaboration with Health Systems studentship)
-impact of the cooperative learning model on global and/or public health learning
-applications of the concept of cognitive diversity to medical education
-additional activities at the student and supervisors discretion that may enhance the OGH mission and have a specific focus on curricular integration
