Combined Degree Programs


MD PhD StudentsThe MD/PhD program is jointly sponsored by Schulich Medicine & Dentistry and the School of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies at Western University. It provides an opportunity to begin a career combining research and clinical practice. Three seats are set aside each year for applicants to the MD/PhD program.

MD/MSc Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery

Students looking at x-ray scanThe Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (OMFS) Program is designed to provide a comprehensive background for the practice of oral and maxillofacial surgery as a specialty, as well as to prepare them for examinations by the Royal College of Dentists in Canada. Candidates for this program must possess a DDS or DMD degree from a CDAC-accredited university.

Student working on computerThe Integrated Engineering program offered by Schulich Medicine & Dentistry and the Faculty of Engineering at Western University, offers a seven-year program leading to a Bachelor of Engineering Science degree and an MD degree. Combined studies in Engineering and Medicine prepare students for a career in technology-dependent medicine. Please note: This program is being discontinued.  Students currently enrolled in the concurrent program will be permitted to finish the Engineering portion of their degrees by August 31, 2018.  All concurrent BESc/MD programs will be withdrawn effective September 1, 2021.
