Transplantation of the liver or pancreas

Liver transplantation and pancreas transplantation are part of the Multi-Organ Transplant Program (MOTP) at LHSC. ERCP / endoscopic surgery

ERCPs are performed in Victoria Hospital (Endoscopy) and University Hospital (Radiology). Referrals are made to the offices of Drs. Hawel, Leslie or Tang.

Laparoscopic donor kidney surgery

Laparoscopic surgery is used for kidney donation to minimize the discomfort for the donor. Information regarding referral for kidney transplantation is available at this link.

Vascular access surgery

Vascular access surgery creates arterio-venous fistulas to allow for hemodialysis. Referral is made by the patient’s nephrologist.

General Surgery

Diseases of the gallbladder, intestine and abdominal wall (hernia) requiring surgery should be referred to General Surgery central referral. Patients with transplants or complex problems may be referred directly to the surgeon's office.
