The Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, at Western University, is seeking applications for the position of Associate Dean, Admissions. The Associate Dean, Admissions will be responsible for the overall conduct and supervision of the admission processes while providing oversight and evaluation of outcomes, reliability and validity of the admissions processes in the MD and DDS Programs in Schulich Medicine & Dentistry.
The successful candidate will provide leadership in all matters of Admissions, strive for excellence in process and outcomes while endorsing and implementing the Social Accountability mandate of Schulich Medicine & Dentistry and maintaining the accreditation standards. She/he will be the School’s representative regionally, provincially and nationally and will also provide a communication link between the School Admissions Office and OMSAS.
The Associate Dean, Admissions will create an environment that encourages and supports innovation, transparency, diversity and social accountability. Candidates are expected to have established leadership and team building capacities and an interest and commitment to support educational scholarship in medical/dental education.
He/she will preferably be a clinician or clinician scientist and hold at minimum an MD or DDS equivalent, be eligible for licensure in the Province of Ontario in accordance with the appropriate licensing body and must be certified, or eligible for certification as a member of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, the College of Family Physicians of Canada or the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario, and hold an active faculty appointment with Schulich Medicine & Dentistry.
The successful candidate will report directly to the Vice Dean, Medical Education, Schulich Medicine & Dentistry. The Associate Dean appointment is for a five year period, normally renewable once upon satisfactory review. Anticipated start date is July 1, 2017 or as negotiated.
