Dr. Shauna Devine receives 2015 Wiley-Silver prize for best first book in Civil War History
The 2015 Wiley-Silver prize for best first book in Civil War History has been awarded to Dr. Shauna Devine's Learning from the Wounded: The Civil War and the Rise of American Medical Science (UNC Press, 2014). This is the third prize earned by Dr. Devine's book, an impressive study of the work of doctors during the American Civil War that impacted the scientific practice of medicine thereafter.
Dr. Devine will accept the prize at the 2015 Conference on the Civil War, held 1-3 October at the University of Mississippi. Congratulations Dr. Devine!
