UME Curriculum

Western medical students received lectures in the history of medicine in the 1st year of the UME curriculum during the Introduction to Medicine module in the fall.  In 4th year, students have the opportunity to select a History of Medicine seminar elective as part of the Integration and Transition module.

In 2014-15, the following offerings were delivered by the Hannah Chair in the History of Medicine as part of the UME Curriculum:

  • ITM Lecture [Year 1]   – “Physicians and the Practice of Medicine:  Challenges and Changes in History”
  • ITM Lecture [Year 1]   – “Child Health and Medical Care: The Impact of Physicians in History”
  • I & T Elective [Year 4] – “Medical Practice and the Impact of the Physician: Historical Changes and Challenges”
