Division of GIM at the Canadian Society of Internal Medicine (CSIM) Annual Meeting

The Division of GIM at Western had a great turnout for the Canadian Society of Internal Medicine (CSIM) Annual Meeting in Banff, AB in October 2018.

Andrew Appleton, GIM faculty, presented at the GIM Faculty Research Showcase: "Simulated co-location of inpatients on an internal medicine ward".

Andre Maddison, GIM PGY5 resident, won the second place aware for his abstract "Hip fractures in the frail elderly: Is there enough evidence to guide management?"

 

Sarah Weisz, GIM PGY4 resident, standing with her research poster on which she presented at CSIM: "Adherence to preoperative investigation ordering guidelines: An audit of practice".

 

Michael Sattin, PGY3 resident in the core Internal Medicine program, standing with his research poster which he presented at CSIM: "Mixed-methods analysis of an electronic 'Mortality Review Form'".  Michael's research is supervised by GIM faculty member Kathy Myers.

 

Zain Burhani, PGY3 resident in the core Internal Medicine program, presented at the Resident Oral abstract session.  Zain's research is supervised by GIM faculty member Noureen Huda.

 

Beatrice Lau, 3rd year medical student at Western, presented her oral abstract: "Targeting patient-cited barriers to help reduce non-essential sleep disruption among hospitalized medicine patients".  Beatrice's research is supervised by GIM faculty member Erin Spicer.
