This elective will allow the resident to participate in counselling with depressed, anxious, ADHD, addictions and eating disordered clients. The resident will be exposed to a team approach to mental health - working closely with social workers, psychology master students, dietician, nurse practitioners, nurses and psychologist. The elective also exposes the resident to frequent adolescent issues; contraception, STIs, pregnancy, acne, sport injuries, migraines, concussions, dysmenorrhea and viral illnesses.

There are 5 physicians at Teen Health - WECHC who are adjunct professors at the Schulich Medical School. The elective is flexible and can be modified to meet the resident's academic needs. The Teen Health - WECHC works closely with Unison Home, Maryvale, Children's Aid, Brentwood and local hospitals.

Scheduling: Can take 1 resident for 4 week rotations. No rotation available in Block 7

PLEASE NOTE: ELECTIVES MUST BE ONE BLOCK IN DURATION (PART OF A BLOCK IS NOT ACCEPTABLE).
