Award: Dr. Susan McNair honoured by the College of Family Physicians of Canada

The College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC) has named Dr. Susan McNair as an Award of Excellence recipient for Ontario in 2018.

The Awards of Excellence recognize College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC) members who in the past 24 months have made outstanding contributions in one or more of the following areas:

  • Patient care
  • Community service
  • Hospital or health care institutions
  • College activities (nationally or through a Chapter)
  • Teaching
  • Research
  • Other elements of the academic discipline of family medicine

Examples of outstanding contributions include:

  • Conducting charitable or humanitarian work
  • Teaching
  • Embodying excellence in clinical practice
  • Creating an innovative research program
  • Providing leadership during a community outbreak of infectious disease
  • Establishing a training program in family violence
  • Developing a new program to address a health care need
  • Providing leadership in a hospital or regional health care program
  • Developing health care programs in specific areas (e.g., palliative care)

Dr. McNair is a Staff Physician at the St. Joseph's Family Medical Centre and the Medical Director of the Regional Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Treatment Centre at St Joseph’s Hospital. She also provides palliative care at University Hospital and sees patients in their homes, as well as patients in long term care.
