Family Medicine celebrates second annual Dr. Ian McWhinney Lecture Series

The Department of Family Medicine celebrated Dr. Ian McWhinney, the founding father of family medicine, with the second annual Dr. Ian McWhinney Lecture Series on September 21, 2016, in the Western Centre for Public Health and Family Medicine at Western University. Dr. Marie-Dominique Beaulieu, professor in the Department of Family and Emergency Medicine at the University of Montreal, delivered her lecture "The Perils and Promise of Proximity."

Dr. Marie-Dominique Beaulieu is professor in the Department of Family and Emergency Medicine at the University of Montreal. She is a research associate at the Research Centre of the University of Montreal Hospital Centre and scientific co-director of the Montreal Research Centre on Social Inequality and Discrimination (CRÉMIS). Her research projects focus on the implementation of care reforms and on interventions designed to improve the quality of primary care.

The lecture series was established in memory of Dr. McWhinney, the founding chair of the Department of Family Medicine and one of the leading thinkers in the discipline of Family Medicine.
