Session learning objectives:
At the conclusion of these Grand Rounds, participants will be able to
- Differentiate between the appropriate use of hard and soft orthotics in terms of structure, function, and patient comfort based on current evidence.
- Describe the outcomes of recent research on orthotic interventions for plantar fasciitis, including patient-reported comfort and pain relief.
- Identify appropriate clinical scenarios for referring patients for soft versus hard orthotic devices, particularly in the context of chronic heel pain.
