Program Curriculum

The Internal Medicine residency program at Western University is three years in length and runs on a 13 block academic year. The program length of training does not exceed the Royal College or College of Family Physicians of Canada standard.

The program provides the Resident with in-depth experience in all areas of internal medicine. The majority of our subspecialty rotations offer both an in-patient and an out-patient component. The experience is built on the principles of graded responsibility. This is experienced the most during the CTU rotations where the level of responsibility will increase significantly each year.

Residents have the opportunity to take up to four elective rotations, three of which can be outside London and may include international health electives. Electives are available during PGY2 and PGY3 years. This provides the Residents with greater opportunities in the career choice process.

Residency Training Program Start Date - All programs at Western commence on July 1st, with a one-day Orientation in London, Ontario on June 28, 2019.
