A national research network (NCOHR) will receive additional funding from the Government of Canada to support its work to improve the oral health of Canadians through strong collaboration, education, and training. The Honourable Ginette Petitpas Taylor, Minister of Health, today announced funding of $850,000 for the Network for Canadian Oral Health Research (NCOHR) through the Canadian Institutes of Health Research.
The Network, led by Dr. Alain Moreau at le Centre hospitalier universitaire Sainte-Justine and Université de Montreal, connects more than 440 members across the country, including researchers, trainees, dental professionals, and industry representatives. Dr. Moreau and his team foster interdisciplinary research, provide mentorship and training opportunities, and facilitate the translation of research into knowledge that leads to better oral health. They also serve an important role in focusing research into oral health issues affecting children, seniors, and Indigenous peoples, and issues related to aging and complex diseases.
