Decision made: Site chosen for mega hospital in Windsor

In July, Windsor Regional Hospital announced the new site for the mega hospital, which is planned for completion in 10 years.

Th Windsor Star shared the news in an article and provided some key facts about the process and location. The article indicated, “A 10-member site selection committee, which included Mason Leschyna, Medicine Class of 2018, spent 1,400 hours during a 15-month period studying and ranking an initial list of 20 properties on 32 criteria.”

The plan will require the redevelopment at Windsor Regional Hospital’s Ouellette and Metropolitan campuses. It will also require the construction of a four-storey, stand-alone emergency department on the former Grace Hospital location. The cost of redevelopment has been quoted at $2 billion. The plan is still under review by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care. A decision is expected in the next year.
