With class leadership from Dr. William Francombe and Dr. John Girvin the Medicine Class of 1958 celebrated their 60th reunion and donated more than $4,000 toward their class fund, raising the total to more than $111,000.
Dr. Robert Howison, DDS ’78, renewed his pledged of $5,000 to the Dentistry Fund.
Dr. Christopher Kan, DDS’98, has made a gift to Dentistry to create the “Dr. Chris Kan of British Columbia Dental Bursary”. This award will be offered annually at $2,000 for five years years to a student with demonstrated financial need and with a preference to those from British Columbia.
Sunstar Americas Inc. is very proud to establish the “Sunstar Award for Clinical Proficiency” to a third or fourth year dental student who exhibits the highest degree of clinical proficiency when speaking with patients about the oral systemic link. This $1,500 award will be presented annually for five years.
Dr. Michael Ott, MD’01, General Surgery Resident ’07, and Program Director of General Surgery, Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry, has made a pledge of $7,500 to establish a new expendable student award, the Dr. Michael Ott and Ott Family Award in Medicine. This $1,500 award will be distributed annually from 2018-19 and 2022-23 to a full-time undergraduate MD student entering fourth year, based on academic achievement and demonstrated financial need. Preference will be given to a student who is planning to specialize in general surgery and/or oncology.
In October 2018, the Graduate Orthodontic alumni have raised a cumulative amount of $165,472 to support the Dr. Antonios Mamandras Fund with the goal of establishing a Chair in Graduate Orthodontics.
