Celebrating and recognizing the most recent donations made in support of the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry

Mrs. Jacqueline Loeb has made a donation of $50,000 to initiate the Dr. Lazarus Loeb Medical Award. This generous gift will provide a $2,000 award annually to an undergraduate Doctor of Medicine student entering fourth year, based on financial need and clinical excellence. Preference will be given to an Indigenous student.

Dr. Marjorie I Johnson
made a five-year pledge for $10,000 to establish the Dr. Marjorie I. Johnson Medical Award. At a value of $2,000 per year, it will be awarded annually to a full-time undergraduate student enrolled in Year 1 in the Doctor of Medicine program based on demonstrated financial need. Preference will be given to a student who self-identifies as Indigenous.

The Ontario Dental Association has agreed to a three-year sponsorship of $30,000 toward the Summer Student Research Program in Dentistry.

Dr. Kieran McIntyre (MD ’03, BSc ’98) made a generous pledge of $7,500 to establish the Dr. Kieran McIntyre Resident Award in Respirology. At a value of $1,500 per year, it will be awarded annually to a postgraduate trainee completing a residency program in Respirology, who has demonstrated excellence in the program. This award is intended to be used for travel to a conference or workshop to pursue specialized training in Respirology. Dr. McIntyre wishes to acknowledge the outstanding caliber of the Respirology Division, and specifically Dr. David McCormack and Dr. Sanjay Mehta for their significant contributions to the program.

Dr. Justin W. Yan, MD ’09 has made a pledge of $7,500 to establish the Dr. Justin W. Yan Emergency Medicine Research Award. At a value of $1,500 per year, it will be awarded annually to a full-time undergraduate Doctor of Medicine MD student, graduating in fourth year, who, in the opinion of the Division of Emergency Medicine, demonstrates the highest potential for pursuing a lifelong career in academic emergency medicine with a focus on research.
